Getting from Port Clinton to Put-in-Bay, South Bass Island:
Port Clinton is where the ferry departs for Put-in-Bay (Millers Ferry or Jet Express). It is recommended you by a round-trip ticket.
Island Air Taxi is a new option for air travel to and from the islands. Based at Put-in-Bay Airport and providing air service for South Bass, Middle Bass, North Bass, Kelleys Island, and Port Clinton at $40 each way.
Overnight parking lots are available in Port Clinton. It is recommended you do NOT bring a car with you to South Bass Island. If you bring a car, you will have to pay to transport it on the ferry. You will spend most of your time on Gibraltar Island, which is too small for cars. Put-in-Bay is very walkable, and additional travel on the island is by bicycle or golf-cart (available for rental).
Weather on the island: Late September historic temperatures average upper 60’s °F (20°C) during the day to low 50’s °F (10°C) at night. It can be raining or sunny, depending on prevailing conditions. The island weather is very different from the weather on the mainland. It can be raining on the mainland where the ferry is and sunny and beautiful on the island. If you want a live but limited view of what is happening at Put-in-Bay - take a look at the webcam at the Jet Express on the island. If you look at the picture, it will either give you a view toward the monument or of the harbor looking toward the west.
